Spellcasting DC is equal to 8+Ranged Attack Bonus. Spells that have a Spell Attack Roll replace this feature with the Weapon Attack Roll of the firearm being used. If a bullet requires a non-consumed Material Component with a gold value, this item must be integrated into your weapon with a tinker tools check with a DC equal to 10 plus the number of material components already integrated into the weapon.įor all spells the target is the impact point of the bullet when fired and range is the range of the firearm. All consumed Material Components are consumed when the Arcane Bullet is crafted, all somatic and verbal components must be expressed when creating the bullet as well. Each Arcane Bullet contains the spell cast when it is created. You can craft Arcane Bullets in a short or long rest, you can maintain a number of bullets containing spell levels as indicated on the Arcane bullet list. You gain proficiency with Tinkers Tools which you need on hand to craft your Arcane Bullets. My DM does usually allow homebrew material (though obviously only if it's more or less balanced, as with Gunslinger), and I have been given the OK to use a different casting stat if I dip 1 or 2 levels into Sorcerer or Warlock, if it matters. At 3rd Level you have learned to engrave spells into bullets and add material components to the powder charge in a way that allows firing the bullet to cast the spell. Our campaign is going to take us to level 12 by the end my initial plan was to take feats granting different magic abilities at every possible opportunity, but I'm not completely sure anymore if that's the best option. I am wondering if there is a better way I could achieve this. We will be starting back up again at level 3. The campaign is coming out of hiatus, and other players have been altering or even totally rebuilding their characters with DM permission. I ended up making this character as a variant human Fighter (Matt Mercer's Gunslinger) with Artificer Initiate so I could play him up as an arcane tinkerer and nerd who made guns (and had invented other weapons, like a reskinned whip as a yoyo) and who liked to act like a stereotypical cowboy, but was clearly putting on a show. In a campaign that went on hiatus a few months ago, I created a character loosely based on a meme as an in joke with a friend (the meme of Kermit with a wizard hat where he says "behold! the most powerful spell of all!" while brandishing a gun).
